Millions of Americans are impacted by back and neck pain every year, so if you’re suffering from aches and pains, you’re not alone. Injuries to these vital parts of the body – as well as just normal wear and tear – is something that we will all probably experience at some point in our lives. And if you’re here, then you probably already know that that pain can be debilitating. At Teton Therapy, we offer solutions for your back and neck pain issues, with the ultimate goals of facilitating healing, managing pain successfully, and increasing your quality of life.
What Causes Back Pain?
Backaches and back pain can occur for a variety of reasons. Many people experience back pain as a result of sprains and strains, injuries, and lifting heavy objects improperly. Traumatic injury, such as from a car accident, also often affects the back and spine. And surprisingly, one of the most common causes of back pain is also the quietest: sitting at a desk for prolonged periods without proper posture and support.
While there are many options available to treat back pain, these treatments may only address the relief of symptoms instead of targeting the cause at its root – such as poor posture, muscle weakness, or spinal misalignment. At Teton Therapy, we’ll work with your physician to try to treat the root of the problem so that we can reduce your long-term pain and help you enjoy all that life has to offer.
What Causes Neck Pain?
Neck pain is also a very common ailment that we see. In addition to causing problematic pain, neck issues may limit mobility in the shoulder, arm, or hand. Headaches and migraines are often triggered by an underlying neck problem. We often see patients who complain of aches or tenderness in the neck and shooting, sharp pains to the connected body parts. Often the primary sources of neck pain are chronically tense muscles, poor posture, daily stress, sitting at computers for long stretches at a time, and good old-fashioned lack of physical activity.
At Teton Therapy, we’ll look for the source of your pain and work with you to develop a treatment program that will help you reach your goals. During your first patient evaluation, well discuss your history, examine your spine, and evaluate your movement, strength, walking, and coordination. This will help our physical therapists pinpoint the exact cause of your back or neck pain, and will also establish a baseline against which we can measure your progress. We’ll work closely with you (and often your physician) to design a treatment plan that best suits your needs and offers the quickest relief from pain and return to function.
