October is here, a month where we embrace the autumn breeze and indulge in pumpkin-spiced everything. But beyond the joy of fall festivities, October has a special significance in the world of healthcare; it marks National Physical Therapy Month, a period dedicated to recognizing the remarkable role of physical therapy in enhancing the quality of life for many.
As you enjoy all the fun experiences October offers, our team would like to share how Teton Therapy is celebrating National PT Month, doing what we can to support our community’s overall health and well-being.
How PT Can Help You
Choosing physical therapy has proven to be an effective way to manage pain and improve physical health. At Teton Therapy, our physical therapists design personalized treatment plans considering each individual’s unique needs and health conditions.

Our physical therapists aid in recovery and empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to manage their conditions better. Through educational resources and guided exercises, our patients learn how to maintain their health effectively and foster self-reliance in managing their well-being.
At its core, physical therapy aims to enhance patients’ quality of life. Through targeted therapies that address pain, mobility issues, and other physical limitations, PT helps patients lead more comfortable, active, and fulfilling lives.
By choosing Teton Therapy, you choose a pathway to better health and a community-focused approach to well-being!

Why Should I Choose Physical Therapy?
There are several reasons to choose physical therapy over costly surgeries and medications. Physical therapy has been shown to not only help resolve pain and improve function, but it is also effective at enhancing your overall health and well-being.
One of the most significant benefits of physical therapy is that it can uncover the underlying reasons for your injuries and/or pain. Some of the impairments your physical therapist can help you correct include:
- Loss of motion/pain with motion
- Weakness
- Poor posture and faulty movement patterns
- Gait abnormalities
- Loss of balance
- Coordination deficits
- Neurological impairment
- Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors (i.e., poor sleep habits, improper nutrition, lack of exercise, etc.).
4 Benefits of Physical Therapy
A physical therapist can educate you about ways to move safer, use your energy more efficiently, reduce the risk of re-injury, and enhance the overall effects of your care. The benefits of physical therapy treatments include easing pain, reducing spasms, increasing circulation, and promoting healing.
- Physical therapy can help improve your joint range of motion and overall mobility: Our ability to move depends on how individual joints move and how the body’s joints move in concert with one another. Increasing joint range of motion and mobility of the connective tissues around your joints (including the tendons, muscles, fascia, and joint capsules) will help your joints feel better and move better.
This will also help you improve overall functional mobility and activity tolerance, essential for work, leisure, and simple daily functions. - Physical therapy can help strengthen weaknesses and compensation patterns: Through injury or surgery, muscles become weak and impact your ability to move and function normally.
For some, an old injury or abnormal movement pattern has led to weakness due to compensations. Physical therapists are skilled at assessing the whole body, identifying weaknesses, and teaching how to restore strength and function. - Physical therapy can improve your overall health and well-being: When you see a physical therapist for pain and injuries, you will receive rehabilitation benefits to resolve the condition and a total body approach to health.
- Physical therapy can help you reduce the risk of injury: By implementing a holistic approach, we can improve and restore your function and prevent injuries. This may include all components of typical physical therapy, gait modifications, coordination exercises to stimulate the nervous system, and to help ensure your mechanics are ideal to avoid an injury.

How to do them:
- Perform each stretch for 20–30 seconds
- Complete 2–3 repetitions per stretch
- Repeat 2–3 times per day (morning, midday, and evening, or whenever you feel tightness)
These stretches should feel like a gentle pull, not pain. Over time, doing them consistently helps reduce discomfort and keep you moving more comfortably throughout your workday.

For several months now, Riverton/Lander Marketing Specialist Maycee Manzanares has been preparing breakfast for Lander and Riverton staff at our monthly meeting.
When she’s not informing the public about the benefits of Physical and Occupational therapy at Teton Therapy or cooking for a crowd, Maycee is a school Volleyball Referee, amateur canning enthusiast, and is pursuing her degree at Central Wyoming College.
She’s one busy lady, and this breakfast keeps her moving through her busy days.

Patient TestiMOnial
“The best improvement is dancing in the Northern Arapaho traditional style for more than ten dances at the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow in Fort Washakie. The best part is that I did not experience any hip pain or cramping!
I am very pleased with my progress. Thank you, Teton!”
