Trust Teton Therapy for Healthy Hands & Wrists!

Picture this. It’s a beautiful summer day outside. Birds are chirping, the bright sunlight shines through your window, and you decide that you want to take a morning stroll around the neighborhood. You put on your walking shoes, grab your water bottle, turn to walk out the door, then suddenly, “BAM.” Your feet fly out from underneath you, slamming you to the floor. You take a moment to recover and assess the situation, realizing your wrist is in a great deal of pain… and waxing the floors wasn’t such a great idea.

After getting medication to mask the pain, you’re still feeling aches, tingling, and sharp pains months after the incident. Not only is it impacting your physical state, but it’s also starting to affect you mentally. You aren’t able to pick up grandkids, perform tasks around the house, or even scroll through your laptop. You feel disconnected, stressed, and overall upset, but there is still hope.

Physical Therapist & Cheyenne owner, Ben Larsen, is shown using hand massage therapy while working with a patient, Thesanica C.

At Teton Therapy, we believe that functional hands and wrists are an important part of who we are. They allow us to perform a wide variety of actions that include touching, feeling, writing, grasping, and so much more. It’s an aspect of who we are and how we communicate with one another. Our physical therapy and occupational therapy services are customized to match your comfort and abilities to reduce pain and restore normal function.

Services Offered at Teton

Keely Tatro, Teton Therapy occupational therapist, working with a patient during treatment.

Occupational therapy is the use and application of a variety of treatments to improve, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental, or developmental condition. Occupational therapy is a client-centered practice that is heavily focused on achieving goals that the client has identified as important to them. Appointments focus on adapting the environment, modifying the task, teaching the skill, and educating the client/family. This is to increase the participation and performance of daily activities, especially those that are meaningful to the client.

Ben Larsen conducts a diagnostic ultrasound during a workshop.

Think of a diagnostic ultrasound as a picture or video inside your body. It allows the therapist and patient to see joints, muscles, tendons, and bones. Unlike an MRI or X-ray, we can move the body part and record it or take a still photo. An ultrasound also allows us to quickly look at both sides of the body to compare differences. For instance, if you have pain in your left knee, we can use an ultrasound to see if it’s arthritis, swelling, torn ligaments, or an inflamed tendon. We can then compare it to your other knee to determine whether it’s abnormal or not. As a therapist, the goal is to get a patient back to “normal” anatomy. With this, we can assess the normality of shoulders, elbows, hands, wrists, hips, knees, ankle, and feet. Diagnostic ultrasound is offered to our Riverton, Lander, and Cheyenne patients.

At Teton Therapy, your physical therapist looks for the source of your pain and works with you to develop a program best matching your needs. During the first patient evaluation, we discuss your history, examine your spine, and evaluate your movement, strength, walking, and coordination. This helps our physical therapists pinpoint the exact cause of your neck pain. We work closely with you to design a treatment plan that best suits your needs and offers the quickest relief from pain and return to function.

A Free Consultation consists of a 30-minute one-on-one appointment with the Physical Therapist of your choice. The PT will talk with you about the history of your problem and will take measurements to test how well you are moving and to test your strength.

After a thorough exam, they will give you a written copy of:

  1. The cause of your pain or problem.
  2. A plan for successful treatment.
